It was an occasion of great joy in the Jawadhi Hills, as children and parents from 10 Seb’s NRSTC primary schools gathered together in the village of Pattikolai to celebrate their Annual Day.

Seb’s Projects India, an NGO that works amongst remote tribal communities in the Vellore district, provides access to quality education for nearly 500 children across more than 20 villages. A team of dedicated teachers—all of whom are from the community—work hard to make learning engaging and innovative.

The Seb’s Annual Day showcased the talent of the students through skits, dancing, singing, and a variety of class projects—including interactive displays of how they learn maths and science. 39 students from Grade 5 celebrated the end of their primary schooling with personalized certificates and handmade graduation caps. From here, the hope is that they will continue on to government middle schools in the district, and be a shining example to younger children in their villages.

The chief guest of the day was Dr Sandhya Pentareddy, Executive Director of the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and a strong advocate for education. In her words, ‘It was heartwarming to see such great schools in such remote places. Seb’s Projects has done a great thing in igniting the sparks in these children. There is a very strong foundation and I think they will do wonders as they go on in life.’
